Zeds Dead Recruit Diplo, Elliphant for Pulsing New Song ‘Blame’

Toronto electronic duo’s new track highlights upcoming debut LP, ‘Northern Lights’

Electronic duo Zeds Dead unite with all-star producer Diplo and Swedish singer Elliphant for the pulsating new single “Blame.” The track highlights Zeds Dead’s debut LP, Northern Lights, out in September via their Deadbeats imprint. “Blame it on the moonlight/ Blame it on my youth,” Elliphant croons over a thick kick drum and bright synths. The chorus explodes with massive, distorted bass drops and pitch-shifted vocals.

Northern Lights will also feature collaborations with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo, Pusha T, Twin Shadow, Jadakiss and Styles P, among others. The duo released “Back Home,” featuring Freddie Gibbs, in March.

“There is something undeniably captivating about the night sky,” Zeds Dead said in a statement about their new LP. “It’s almost like a direct projection of the unknown. The phenomenon of the Northern lights serves as a stark contrast to this –something vibrant and beautiful emerging from this darkness. It’s a cross roads where we feel a lot of our music exists and its something that we really wanted to further explore with our debut album and live tour. We can’t wait to bring you into this world over the next few months.”

Zeds Dead previously worked with Diplo, having remixed “Take U There,” the producer’s collaborative single with Skrillex under the Jack Ü moniker.

The group recently announced a fall tour, launching September 29th in Baltimore and concluding December 17th.
