Yusuf Islam Plots Intimate North American Tour

Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, has announced a string of North American tour dates that coincide with the 50th anniversary of his first hit single, 1966’s “I Love My Dog.”
Islam will perform stripped-down shows during his A Cat’s Attic trek, which begins September 12th at the Sony Centre for Performing Arts in Toronto and wraps with a two night stand at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles October 6th and 7th. A complete list of dates is below.
The tour will also notably include two shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre and a set at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park, marking Islam’s first public concerts in NYC since 1976. In 2014, Islam abruptly canceled a highly-anticipated New York City show due to rampant ticket scalping.
Tickets for A Cat’s Attic go on sale Monday August 15th at 10 a.m. local time via Live Nation. Fans who join Islam’s Redroom fan club through his website will be able to purchase pre-sale tickets from August 11th at 10 a.m. local time though August 14th at 10 p.m. local time. A portion of every ticket will be donated to UNICEF and the International Rescue Committee to help children affected by the ongoing refugee crisis.
While Islam has not released an album since 2014’s Tell ‘Em I’m Gone, in June he shared the new track, “He Was Alone,” written after a visit to a Syrian refugee camp in southern Turkey.
