YouTube Star’s ‘Transcendence (Orchestral Version)’ – Song Premiere

Classically trained violinist Lindsey Stirling became a YouTube sensation last year when the video for her song “Crystallize” became the eighth most-viewed clip of 2012. With a staggering 63 million views and a growing global following, Stirling now delivers “Transcendence (Orchestral Version),” a mesmerizing and emotive bonus number found on the reissue of Lindsey Stirling, which hits stores October 29th.

“To transcend something means more than just getting past something; it is to overcome something and become better as a result of an obstacle,” Stirling tells Rolling Stone. “I wrote ‘Transcendence’ at a time in my life when I needed the courage to overcome something that was pulling me down. This song helped me believe in myself again.”

Some may recall that Stirling was voted off America’s Got Talent during its 2010 quarter-finals after some harsh words from Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne, but the Arizona native has bounced back in a big way. After an early version of her debut – which incorporates dubstep and electronica into her hypnotic compositions – managed to sell 150,000 copies in the U.S. with similarly impressive numbers abroad, she teamed with Lady Gaga‘s management, Atom Factory.

Now, with an exclusive, deluxe version of the album available through Target, Stirling serves up newly recorded versions and remixes of material like the aforementioned “Crystallize,” “Elements” and “My Immortal.” But don’t expect her to rest on this achievement: she recently started writing material for her next studio album.
