Women Who Rock: Carly Rae Jepsen
"Call Me Maybe" singer Carly Rae Jepsen recently sat down with Rolling Stone to talk about some of the artists she admires, from Van Morrison and Joni Mitchell to Sinead O'Connor and the Spice Girls ("Wannabe was a rad album!" she exclaims.) Jepsen also gushed about U.K. dance artists La Roux: "I never strayed away where I stopped listening to folk music or singer-songwriter artists – I have a great love for that music – I was also just attracted to these other sounds as well," said Jepsen. "La Roux was a big part of that transition. When I heard her album, it hit me like a folk song did when I was nine or 10 . . . I felt empowered and wanted to dance and go out into the city."
