Weezer Reveal New Album Title, Preview New Riff in Studio Teaser

The band’s 10th album is officially named ‘Everything Will Be Alright in the End’

Weezer have officially announced the title of their upcoming 10th studio album: Everything Will Be Alright in the End. The quartet dropped the news in another cryptic LP teaser, which finds the band chatting on a grainy TV screen.

The 30-second clip opens with a mother’s creepy voice saying, “Go back to sleep, honey – everything will be alright in the end.” Then a man writes the album name on a piece of paper before the screen fades to black, leaving only the text and the caption “Produced by Ric Ocasek.” (Pitchfork confirmed the title with a band representative.)

Even more exciting than the title (which is much less goofy than the band’s recent offerings, like Raditude and the Jorge Garcia-inspired Hurley) is the snippet of new music that ends the clip. It’s a tantalizing tease of metal-tinged guitars, harkening back to the darker edge of 2002’s underrated Maladriot.

Weezer have been teasing Everything with in-studio teasers for the past three months, and they’ve also showcased bits and pieces of two new songs. First came “The Waste Land,” which features a brooding guitar melody that, like the newest audio tease, sounds far removed from their recent work.

Meanwhile, this preview of “Ain’t Got Nobody” finds frontman Rivers Cuomo singing “Ain’t got no one to really love me” over crunching power chords, showing the influence of producer Ric Ocasek’s old band, the Cars.

Back in February, the band debuted another new song, “Back to the Shack,” on their Weezer Cruise; that upbeat track found Cuomo name-checking his frisbee-catching drummer, Pat Wilson.
