Weekend Rock Question: What Is the Greatest Soundtrack Song?

The Academy Awards are this Sunday, and we’ll find out whether or not Adele gets to add an Oscar to her giant pile of awards. She’s up against “Suddenly” from Les Miserables, “Pi’s Lullaby” from Life of Pi, “Everybody Needs a Best Friend” from Ted and “Before My Time” from Chasing Ice. It seems likely that she’ll be victorious.

Now we have a question for you: what is your favorite song from a movie soundtrack? We’re going to use the Academy Award rules. It has to be a song specifically written for a movie. We love the way that Martin Scorsese used “Layla” in Goodfellas, but it doesn’t count. That still leaves a ton of possibilities, from Theme from Shaft to Streets of Philadelphia to Blame Canada. Vote for whatever you want, but please just vote once and only for a single song.
