Wavves are heading on tour this month, but not everyone is “welcome at a Wavves show.” As Pitchfork reports, in a letter posted to Twitter on Wednesday, Wavves’ Nathan Williams wrote that he needed “to make clear” that racists, homophobes, misogynists and Trump supporters are not among those invited to attend their concerts.

While he wrote that it is “healthy” to have differing opinions, “in light of the constant rape, murder, racism, homophobia and misogyny that goes on seemingly everyday, I feel the need to make clear who I personally make music for, and who I don’t.”

He then gives a detailed six-points list with his reasoning. Those that supported #alllivesmatter, those who have “gone out of your way to defend police in America,” those that have “ever thought a victim of rape had it coming because she was dressed a certain way, or was ‘too intoxicated,'” anyone who has harbored “resentment towards the homosexual community in any way” and “if you’re white and use racial slurs” are “not welcome to a Wavves show.” Trump supporters are also banned “because this is basically three or four of the aforementioned topics.”

While he acknowledges that “nobody is perfect (including myself)” and realizes this may alienate some of his fanbase, he concludes that “I’d rather have a room half filled with good energy than one filled with hate,” he writes. “People are suffering every day and the way I see it, you are either part of the solution or part of the problem.”

Wavves, who released V in October, hit the road beginning July 21st at Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix. Their tour currently wraps on September 23rd in Denton, TX, at Oaktopia.
