“I could’ve been dead/ I could’ve been in prison/ So I want to celebrate,” Rico Love croons on Wiz Khalifa‘s new single. The track’s flashy music video, directed by Dan Folger, doubles down on that optimism with the rappers flexing next to expensive cars and cruising on a yacht.
“Celebrate” is a highlight from Khalifa’s sixth solo album, Khalifa. Last week, the rapper released the 16-track LP Rude Awakening with supergroup TGOD Mafia (Khalifa, Juicy J, producer TM88). Khalifa launches his “High Road Summer Tour” with fellow weed enthusiast Snoop Dogg on July 20th in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Khalifa recently filed a lawsuit against his former manager in an attempt to terminate the 360 contract he signed in 2005, at age 16. The suit, which seeks $1 million plus punitive damages and legal fees, accuses Rostrum Records and its founder, Benjy Grinberg, of profiting from “virtually every aspect of [Khalifa’s] professional life” in the decade after signing the deal.
