Rivers Cuomo flashbacks to his own ‘White Album’ videos, meets up with “Damn, Daniel” dudes

Weezer‘s Rivers Cuomo takes a trippy, twisty journey back through his own recent music videography in “California Kids,” the latest clip off the band’s upcoming “White Album.” “California Kids” is like an acid flashback to Weezer’s most recent videos, as Cuomo starts things off by walking into the same café from the “Thank God for Girls” lyric video, where he – like the main character from that clip – finds himself suddenly gorging on cannolis.

Next stop is to the same beach that set the scene for “L.A. Girlz,” where Cuomo encounters the same kid who played a young version of the singer in that video. Like in “L.A. Girlz,” Cuomo passes out after being kissed by a female weightlifter. Later, while metal detecting on the beach – a nod to the album cover – Cuomo digs out his own doppelgänger, which then becomes the Weezer singer after the original Cuomo disintegrates in the California sun.

And just to put a timestamp on the whole thing, Cuomo gets spotted by the dudes from the viral “Damn, Daniel” video, who say to the singer, “Damn, Rivers. Back at it again with the Ray-Bans” to close out the video.

Weezer’s latest self-titled LP, dubbed the “White Album” for its sun-bleached color scheme, is out April 1st.
