Watch Usher Sing Smoky, Slowed-Down ‘Crash’ on ‘Tonight Show’

Singer gives visually striking performance of atmospheric new single with Roots

Usher brought his new single “Crash” to The Tonight Show Thursday, teaming up with house band the Roots for a music video-worthy performance.

For their rendition, Usher showcased his signature dance moves and falsetto along a catwalk between the Roots, as a white screen flickered in the background. To keep with the atmospheric, emotional vibe of the single, the performance is presented in slight slow-motion, giving it a dreamy vibe while surreal moments like when Usher leaps off the stage.

Usher visited The Tonight Show to promote the film Hands of Stone, a boxing film where the singer portrays Sugar Ray Robinson. Robert De Niro stars as Ray Arcel, the real-life manager of boxer Roberto Duran, played by Edgar Ramirez.

Earlier this week, Usher appeared briefly on Last Week Tonight to join an all-star collection of artists telling politicians to stop using their songs. The singer also revealed that he would take part in this year’s Global Citizen Festival.
