Watch Tinashe’s Sultry New ‘Company’ Video
Tinashe‘s new “Company” video is like an eerie electro-R&B workout. The shot opens on a dark, smoky stage with the singer and back-up dancers showcasing elaborate choreography filled with grinding and leg splits. The video, directed by Jack Begert and choreographed by Jojo Gomez, unfolds in one continuous shot.
“Company” highlights Tinashe’s 2016 release Nightride, which ranked 16 on Rolling Stone‘s list of 2016’s 20 Best R&B Albums. The LP is the first of a two-part installment, with Joyride set to follow this spring. The latter album was originally planned as the official follow-up to Tinashe’s debut album, 2014’s Aquarius, but she delayed the project to record more material.
Tinashe told Rolling Stone she envisions Nightride and Joyride as two parts of the same creative whole. “I think you can be a combination of things, and that’s what makes people human and complex,” she said. “They are equally me. I don’t like to be limited to one particular thing so I want to represent that duality and that sense of boundlessness in my art.”
