Watch the Killers’ Rousing Cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Blowin’ in the Wind’

Brandon Flowers lent sturdy vocals, delicacy to rock standard at Lake Tahoe Summit

Every year, the Lake Tahoe Summit brings together federal, state and local leaders with the goal of sustaining the environment surrounding Lake Tahoe, which stretches across the California and Nevada border. This year, the event also included a concert from the Killers, who performed a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Blowin’ in the Wind” during their set (via Stereogum).

The Killers started their rendition of Dylan’s classic with rocker Brandon Flowers singing over a sturdy, martial beat. The rest of the band joined the fun around the end of the first verse, and the song’s mid-section was devoted to a delicate guitar solo.

The Killers often deliver a cover during their live shows: in the past, the group has adapted Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and songs by Kings of Leon for their own purposes. Flowers has also performed New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle” with Bernard Sumner and the Pretenders’ “Don’t Get Me Wrong” with Chrissie Hynde.

The Killers hail from Nevada, so are personally connected to the goals of the Summit. Their set was hosted by Nevada Senator Harry Reid, who will retire from the Senate later this year. President Obama delivered the Lake Tahoe Summit’s keynote address.
