Watch the Killers Cover Kings of Leon’s ‘The Bucket’ at Firefly

Band also performs “Use Somebody” after severe weather knocked out Kings of Leon’s gig

Although Kings of Leon‘s Saturday night headlining set at the Firefly Festival was canceled due to severe weather, thanks to the Killers, attendees were still able to hear the band’s music. The Hot Fuss crew headlined the Dover, Delaware fest Sunday, and during their performance – which doubled as only the Killers’ second concert in nearly a year – the band covered a pair of Kings of Leon tracks live. “I heard you had a little trouble yesterday. We’re trying to make up for it the best we can,” Brandon Flowers told the crowd (via DIY).

Midway through the Killers’ Firefly-closing set, Flowers and company busted out their cover of “The Bucket,” a cut off Kings of Leon’s 2005 album Aha Shake Heartbreak. After the band returned to their regularly scheduled programming, they once again dipped into the Kings of Leon songbook to perform an abridged, acoustic version of “Use Somebody,” according to Billboard. For the second straight night – the Killers initially returned to the stage Saturday in Atlantic City – the band also dropped a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising.”

The Firefly fest was forced to cancel all Saturday night festivities – including gigs from Kings of Leon, Sublime With Rome, Rustie and, after 20 minutes, Kid Cudi – after a lightning storm swept into the area. Attendees were told to quickly evacuate the festival grounds, take down all their tents and seek shelter in their vehicles. While organizers attempted to reschedule the Saturday night performers for Sunday, only two – Steve Aoki and the Chainsmokers – were available for the festival’s closing day.

Flowers will continue with his solo trek in support of his new album The Desired Effect, but the Killers will reconvene once more in 2015 for their headlining slot at San Diego’s Kaaboo Festival on September 18th.
