Slipknot’s Corey Taylor isn’t the kind of guy who backs down from a fight, not even when his opponent is a 6-foot-8, 275-pound monster with a mean streak to match his size.
Just ask NXT’s Baron Corbin, who found himself on the receiving end of an open-handed slap from the Slipknot frontman during a match at this weekend’s Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, California. Taylor and his masked mates were headlining Saturday night’s bill, but before they took the stage, Taylor got a ringside seat to take in some wrestling action – and get involved in a match between Corbin and Samoa Joe.
Taylor and Corbin had actually been beefing on social media for several days leading up to the fest, and tensions nearly boiled over moments before Corbin made his way to the ring. NXT’s “Lone Wolf” only added fuel to the fire by treating Taylor like a groupie before the fight and later got in his face to talk trash after throwing Joe head-first into some stairs.
“Slipknot ain’t nobody in my house,” Corbin said before giving Taylor a hard poke in the shoulder. “Got it?”
Apparently, Taylor didn’t, because he followed that up by slapping the shit out of Corbin, sending the wrestler reeling and the crowd into a frenzy. There was no coming back from it, either, as Corbin proceeded to get his ass handed to him by all 282 pounds of Joe.
While Joe did most of the heavy lifting, Corey got the credit for turning the fight on its head and now appears to have a new best bud. Talk about an eventful weekend.
