Watch Sia Talk Aliens, Decipher Lyrics in ‘Carpool Karaoke’
Sia became the latest artist to sit in on James Corden’s immensely popular passenger seat Tuesday as the wigged-out singer joined the Late Late Show host for a round of “Carpool Karaoke.” On their voyage along the gridlocked streets of Los Angeles to the CBS studios, the pair sang tracks like “Chandelier,” “Elastic Heart” and Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” one of the many Sia-penned songs that have reached the charts for other artists.
For their ride together, Sia kept in character with a black-and-white wig and gargantuan bow obscuring her face. “I don’t wear this if there aren’t cameras around. I only wear this to maintain a modicum of privacy,” she explained to Corden. “I was a singer for 10 or 11 years to mediocre success, and I was an alcoholic and a drug addict, and I sobered up and decided I didn’t want to be an artist anymore, because I was starting to become a little bit famous, and it was destabilizing in some way. So I thought, ‘What doesn’t exist in pop music anymore?’ And it was mystery.”
Sia also deciphered some of her more inscrutable lyrics for Corden and explained why she truly believes in aliens.
