Kelela becomes a private dancer in the video for catchy single “Rewind,” the latest track from the rising R&B singer’s upcoming Hallucinogen EP.
The clip features Kelela dancing slowly for the camera as it weaves between numerous locations. The cameras’ low angles pull the viewer in as her dance partner beneath the low lights of the clip’s various spots and hypnotic sound of the single.
“Rewind” was named Zane Lowe’s “World Record” on his Beats Radio show and was featured prominently in the finale of Opening Ceremony’s New York Fashion Week show. The single follows up her Arca collaboration, “A Message.”
Hallucinogen is Kelela’s second release, following up her critically acclaimed 2013 mixtape Cut 4 Me. She has yet to release a full-length album. Hallucinogen is meant to explore a relationship from start to finish. “It speaks to narcotic that is loving someone,” the artist said about the title in a statement. “It makes you exhilarated, it makes you feel drained, it’s in your body and it affects you so completely.”
Hallucinogen is set for release October 9th via Cherry Coffee/Warp Records.
