Today, rapper Rick Ross dropped his third album in two years, Black Market. The star-studded LP features the likes of John Legend, Mary J. Blige, Future, Mariah Carey and Nas and immediately follows the release of two mixtapes, September’s Black Dollar and November’s Renzel Remixes. The rapper recently sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss how prolific he’s been recently.
“It was just like an explosion of creativity, music, ideas,” Ross says of this two-year period that had seen the release of Mastermind and Hood Billionaire within seven months of each other last year. “A lot of things, creatively, fell in place.”
Ross, who has also been a notable guest rapper on other people’s songs and projects, revealed which of his guest verses are his favorite and talked a bit about his work with Kanye West. He notes that the pair have some songs “in the vault” to hopefully be released soon.
