Watch Pearl Jam Cover U2’s ‘A Sort of Homecoming’ at Colombia Concert

Eddie Vedder delivers solo rendition of ‘The Unforgettable Fire’ classic

Pearl Jam wrapped up their tour of South America and Mexico Saturday night, a nine-show trek where every concert clocked in at over three hours and the set list was packed with the band’s biggest hits, fan favorites and surprise covers. Previous shows on the jaunt have seen Pearl Jam cover Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb,” John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Eagles of Death Metal’s “I Want You So Hard (Boy’s Bad News),” and at the band’s penultimate concert of the tour, a November 25th gig in Bogotá, Colombia, Eddie Vedder treated the crowd to a solo rendition of U2‘s The Unforgettable Fire opener “A Sort of Homecoming.”

Vedder sang a portion of the U2 track before seguing into Pearl Jam’s Yield cut “MFC.” According to the official Pearl Jam site, this isn’t the first time that Pearl Jam have tackled the U2 song: The band briefly played The Unforgettable Fire track at a November 8th, 2006 show in Sydney, Australia. However, the Bogotá concert marked the first time in over nine years that Pearl Jam covered the song onstage. Check out footage from that Sydney performance below:
