Watch Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds’ Powerful New ‘Magneto’ Video
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds unveiled the intimate video for “Magneto,” a haunting track from the group’s new LP Skeleton Tree.
“The urge to kill somebody was basically overwhelming/ I had such hard blues down there in the supermarket queues,” Cave sings achingly. “And I had a sudden urge to become someone, someone like you/ Who started out with less than anyone I ever knew.”
The black-and-white video reflects Cave’s torture with pummeling strobe light effects that are so powerful, the video begins with a disclaimer for viewers with epilepsy. “Magneto” mirrors the stark tone and style of Cave’s other music videos, such as “Girl in Amber,” “Jesus Alone” and “I Need You.” The song also contains the lyric that became the title of Cave and the Bad Seeds recent documentary, One More Time With Feeling.
The documentary, which captures the making of Skeleton Tree, will return to select theaters on December 1st. Next spring, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds announced they will embark on a North American tour in support of Skeleton Tree.
