Niall Horan takes fans onstage, backstage and into the rehearsal room in his lyric video for new single “Slow Hands.” The One Direction singer plays guitar and drums, gazes out at an empty arena and chills behind the recording console in his behind-the-scenes clip.
Horan released the seductive funk-pop track earlier this month. It’s the second preview from his upcoming debut solo LP, following the more reflective, folky “This Town.”
On “Slow Hands,” Horan croons come-ons over a stomp-laden beat and muted guitar riff. “We should take this back to my place/ That’s what she said right to my face,” he sings. “I’ve been thinking ’bout it all day/ And I hope you feel the same way.”
Prior to debuting the track via Sirius XM, Horan revealed that he drew on late Seventies and early Eighties inspirations, like Don Henley, to craft the song. “When he went solo in the early Eighties, he just had this funky feel to it – heavy bass, heavy guitar – so I just thought, ‘Let’s give this a crack,'” he said.
