Watch New Order Perform Energetic ‘Singularity’ on ‘Late Show’

Just days after New Order kicked off their U.S. tour in support of new LP Music Complete with a joyous show at New York’s Radio City Music Hall, the dance-rock icons visited The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform a muscular take on “Singularity,” the latest single off the group’s first studio album in 10 years.

“As I understand it, is the point at which artificial intelligence overtakes human intelligence,” singer Bernard Sumner told Rolling Stone of the song’s title. “And then there’s ‘singularity,’ which refers to the beginning of the universe.” The track is a collaboration between New Order and the Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowland. “We thought we might as well get a bloke who’s got more synthesizers than us, and he was the only one we could find,” drummer Stephen Morris said.

The Late Show performance comes after the band unveiled the music video for “Singularity,” featuring grainy Eighties footage of West Berlin citizens protesting, dancing and stripping in the years before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
