Watch Mysterious Cheerleaders in Kings of Leon’s ‘Waste a Moment’ Video
Trouble is afoot in the small town where Kings of Leon‘s new video for “Waste a Moment” takes place. Three cheerleaders sit peacefully under a tree, but strange things seem to follow them.
The video unfurls like a campy sci-fi flick. As the girls gaze mysteriously in the distance, things go awry: a police officer collapses, cop cars swarm the streets and a surreal home invasion takes place. The eerie events are punctuated by the roiling sounds of electric guitars in the background. The band plays blindfolded in various parts of a home while it’s under siege, suggesting that the band is there but unseen by the characters.
“Waste a Moment” is the first single from the Nashville rock band’s forthcoming studio album, Walls, due out October 14th. Earlier today, the band released its second new song from the LP, “Around the World,” which they premiered live on Late … With Jools Holland.
The music so far indicates that Walls will mark a more contemporary, pop-rock oriented direction for the band. They recruited producer Mark Dravs, best known for his work with Coldplay and Arcade Fire.
