Watch Lena Dunham Rap in ‘Sensual Pantsuit’ for Hillary Clinton PSA
Lena Dunham parodied celebrity activism in a new PSA for Hillary Clinton where she raps and strips down to her “sensual pantsuit” in honor of the Democratic presidential nominee. Dunham has been on the campaign trail with Hillary Clinton for months leading up to the election.
The video begins with a few people in Dunham’s home trying to figure out why they were invited to her place, with one mentioning that her agent had set this up while another revealed he hoped to record her saying something controversial to leak to the press. Dunham enters and reveals that it’s not a “simple brunch” this time. Instead, she unveils her latest project: “rapped music.”
A music video by MC Pantsuit (Dunham) proceeds. “Sensual Pantsuit Anthem” is assisted by Broadway star Cynthia Erivo and radio personality Charlamagne the God. “Let’s get out and vote or everybody might die,” Erivo sings during the chorus. Then, Dunham decides to take off her pantsuit to reveal a “more sensual pantsuit ’cause that’s what you do for the candidate you love.” Charlamagne says he’s confused, which makes Dunham question whether her antics may be hurting the candidate more than helping. The pantsuit comes off either way.
