Watch Kurt Vile, Tony Hale, Lisa Loeb Sing Quirky Holiday Rock Song

Comedian Bridget Everett adds hilarious soprano, backing vocals to “Wakin on a Pretty Day”

Kurt Vile stopped by the Joe’s Pub Presents: A Holiday Special, which aired on the IFC Wednesday evening. He reimagined his rock song, “Wakin on a Pretty Day” as a holiday tune with some extra help from Lisa Loeb and comedians Tony Hale and Bridget Everett and the Dap-Kings as the house band.

“I live along a straight line these days,” Vile said, before changing up the lyrics of his 2013 single. “And I got Christmas on my mind, and I wanna sing.” Loeb, Everett and the special’s host Hale danced and laughed behind Vile before getting up to join him for a chorus of “yeahs” towards the end of his performance. Loeb petted Vile’s hair while Everett sang hilariously dramatic vocal runs in the middle of the harmonies.

Other guests of the holiday special included Jo Firestone, Nick Thune, Judah Friedlander, Jordan Carlos and Jen Kirkman.
