Watch Kesha’s Empowering Cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘I Shall Be Released’

Singer previously covered folk icon with Ben Folds at Billboard Music Awards

Following her powerful appearance at the Billboard Music Awards, Kesha is continuing to celebrate Bob Dylan‘s 75th birthday by performing another cover of the folk pioneer’s songs. The singer tackled Dylan’s 1967 song “I Shall Be Released” at Dylan Fest in Nashville.

During her appearance at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Kesha belted out the significantly titled song, a possible nod to her legal woes against producer Dr. Luke and Sony that has kept her tied to her recording contract with Kemosabe Records. “Any day now, any day now/I shall be released,” she sang at the tribute fest.

“I Shall Be Released” is the second Dylan song Kesha has performed in the last week. She previously took on the more tender “It Ain’t Me Babe” at a Ben Folds show after her appearance at the BBMAs had been canceled following rumors that she would reference the legal battle live. After her appearance was reinstated, she reprised the cover for the award show on Sunday night.
