The clip premiered at a special event for Tidal members at Jay Z’s 40/40 Club, and will be available exclusively on the streaming service for the next seven days (though both subscribers and non-subscribers can watch).
The “Panda” video opens with various shots of New York City at night, the camera movements growing increasingly unstable until Desiigner finally steals an unsuspecting man’s car at gunpoint. The rest of the clip finds the MC speeding and prowling around the city while fights break out in the streets and cops bust down doors. West appears near the end, jumping behind the wheel of the white BMW the song’s title refers to.
West notably inked Desiigner to a G.O.O.D. Music deal and prominently sampled “Panda” on The Life of Pablo‘s “Father Stretch My Hands, Pt. 2.” At the end of April, “Panda” reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the first New York rap song to do so since Jay Z’s “Empire State of Mind” in 2009.
Desiigner will make his late-night TV debut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert tomorrow, April 11th.
