Jidenna is broke but “fresh as hell” in his new video for “The Let Out.” The singer-rapper hops in his clunky Honda Civic and cruises to a nightclub where the party is in the parking lot. “Heard the shit was jumpin’ like the wall that border Mexico,” he sings over a booming trap beat.
“The Let Out” features guest spots by producer Nana Kwabena and Migos member Quavo. It’s the fourth single from Jidenna’s debut LP, The Chief, out February 17th.
Jidenna – one of Rolling Stone‘s “New Artists You Need to Know” from 2015 – emerged that year as the first signee from Janelle Monáe’s Epic Records imprint, Wondaland Records. He broke out with Monáe collaboration “Yoga” and his debut solo single “Classic Man,” which President Obama featured on his eclectic summer 2016 playlist.
Last year, Jidenna teased his upcoming album with a string of singles, including the boastful “Chief Don’t Run.”
