In tribute to the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters, a quartet of Japanese comedians created their own J-pop version of the original Ray Parker Jr. theme song. The comics also made a hilarious video to accompany their cover, where they even fend off a pair of breakdancing ghosts.
In familiar ghostbusting-ready uniforms, Tomochika, Oniyakko Tsubaki, Naomi Watanabe and Shizuyo Tamaski dance and sing in between clips of the new film starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. After fighting off the ghosts with their weapons, the heroes and their enemies dance together through the final moments of the clip.
Ghostbusters will hit theaters on July 15th, the same day the star-studded soundtrack will also debut. While the soundtrack does not include the J-pop version of the theme song, several artists take a stab at recreating the tune or working in samples of it into their new tracks. Walk the Moon, Zayn Malik, Pentatonix and Fall Out Boy featuring Missy Elliott are among the acts to tackle the iconic, funky classic.
