Watch Heart Perform Bruising New Song ‘Beautiful Broken’ Live
In a no-frills live video of “Beautiful Broken,” the lead single from Heart‘s recently released 16th LP, the rock legends sing about a misunderstood woman over bruising riffs. The clip, directed by Dusty Kraatz, was filmed in May at Chicago’s Genesee Theatre.
Heart’s latest album includes re-recorded and re-conceptualized “cherry picks” from their catalog, along with three new originals. The updated studio version of “Beautiful Broken” – which originally appeared as a bonus track on the band’s 2012 LP, Fanatic – features a vocal guest spot from Metallica frontman James Hetfield.
“The neo-punk ‘Beautiful Broken’ is a raw, muscular look at a ripped and torn beauty; a fabulous insanity,” singer Ann Wilson told Rolling Stone. “James Hetfield of Metallica makes a surprise appearance uttering the clarifying message, ‘just like you and me,’ just to make sure this girl doesn’t feel special. It’s a ripper from the folks who brought you ‘Break’ and ‘Barracuda.'”
The band is currently touring behind Beautiful Broken on the “Rock Hall Three for All” tour with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Cheap Trick. Heart will launch a headlining tour this fall, opening with a trio of Las Vegas dates on October 6th, 7th and 8th. Full ticket information is available at the band’s website.
