Watch Gallant, Jhene Aiko’s Smoldering New ‘Skipping Stones’ Video
Things aren’t looking so great for rising R&B singer Gallant in his latest video for the smoldering “Skipping Stones,” which opens with him bloodied and tied up in an enclosed space.
In the American Millennial-directed clip for Red Bull Sound Select, Gallant croons the searching lyrics, which yearn to find something missing that seems intangible, as well as a lost sense of direction. His shots are interspersed with scenes featuring song collaborator Jhené Aiko, while her singing intermingles with his.
Aiko sits behind the driver’s seat of a car, seemingly contemplating her next move as the camera pans across cans of gasoline in the backseat. It’s soon revealed that Gallant’s fate is in Aiko’s hands. And mirroring the soulful song’s simmering discontent, things don’t end on a happy note, to say the least.
The song hails from Gallant’s debut studio album, Ology, which was released in April. That same month, Gallant and Aiko paid homage to Prince during Coachella with their rendition of “Diamonds and Pearls.”
