Future has unveiled his new video for his DS2 cut “Where Ya At?” featuring Drake. The video finds the two rappers reminiscing about their paths to fame, with Future and his crew (including the track’s producer Metro Boomin) delivering his verses atop a building while Drake looks out over his dominion from a skyscraper.
At times, the visual cues for the Sam Lecca-directed video come directly from the lyrics: When Drake asks “Where your asses at when we recorded in a bathroom,” the camera dollies to a bathroom recording session. When the rapper says, “I take attendance like a classroom,” the video cuts to a student, ruler in hand, in a dingy warehouse. After spending the majority of the video looking back at their past, “Where Ya At?” concludes with Future and Drake reuniting at a giant feast to toast their success.
According to Future, the “Where Ya At?” video first debuted Wednesday on Sony’s First View Live billboard in New York’s Times Square, allowing unsuspecting tourists glimpses of lean, firearms and fleeting nudity.
Drake and Future hit the road together as part of the Canadian rapper’s Jungle Tour this past spring. That tour and “Where Ya At?” squashed any previous rift between the two rappers resulting from Drake’s Would You Like a Tour? jaunt in 2013. At the time, Future criticized Drake’s then-new LP Nothing Was the Same, resulting in him getting fired just days before the trek launched. Future then demanded $1.5 million in lost wages before the two rappers settled their differences and the tour resumed as scheduled.
