Watch Former Spice Girl Mel C’s Free-Spirited ‘Anymore’ Video
Former Spice Girl Melanie C seeks freedom on the dance floor in the new video for her breakup anthem “Anymore.”
The clip features an array of people, from kids to construction works, grooving to the snappy synth-pop cut. Melanie C, in a red-lit club, dances on her own and belts “Anymore” in a alluring, smokey voice. “Anymore” will appear on Melanie C’s upcoming album, Version of Me, which arrives October 21st, and follows her 2012 LP, Stages.
Earlier this summer, three of Mel C’s former bandmates, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton, Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown and Geri “Ginger Spice” Halliwell, reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls’ breakout single, “Wannabe.” The trio suggested there would be more reunion festivities in the future, though both Mel C (formerly Sporty Spice) and Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham declined to join (the last time all five Spice Girls performed together was at the closing ceremony for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London).
In an essay for the U.K. magazine, Love, Mel C wrote: “Look, I will be a Spice Girl until I die. But the continuous speculation on whether we will reform to celebrate 20 years of ‘Wannabe’ has been particularly exhausting. Don’t get me wrong — I totally get it. But is it a new rule that bands have to reform? Why can’t we just be remembered for our incredible achievements in the nineties.”
