Flatbush Zombies gave a raucous, colorful performance of songs “Bounce” and “Trade-Off” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday. The Brooklyn hip-hop group released their debut album 3001: A Laced Odyssey in March.
For “Trade-Off,” the trio were joined by the Rhythm Roots Allstars, the Los Angeles-based band that has backed artists like De La Soul, Talib Kweli and Sharon Jones. As the band offered a steady, syrupy musical accompaniment to the psychedelic rap song, the Flatbush Zombies were at full energy as they ran and jumped across the stage before diving into the audience to mosh with their fans. On “Bounce,” the band dominated the stage without the backing band and continued to interact with fans on the floor.
Flatbush Zombies’ debut album hit the Top 10 on the Billboard charts. The group has amassed a cult-like following with their steady stream of singles and collaborations with other New York artists like RZA and A$AP Rocky since 2012. They had previously released two mixtapes and a 2014 collaborative EP with the Underachievers.
