Watch Ellen, Wanda Sykes Spoof ‘Becky’ From Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’

“I’m Wanda with the good weave!” bat-swinging Sykes shouts

“Becky? I have to go … But I do love what you’re doing with your hair – it looks good,” said Ellen DeGeneres in her spoof of Lemonade. The talk show host, along with comedian Wanda Sykes, imagined their roles in Beyonce‘s audio-visual album Thursday on Ellen

“You will not believe this, but Queen B has gone cray-cray,” DeGeneres said during the video’s hydrant-bashing breakup anthem “Hold Up.” DeGeneres and Sykes play with the tabloids’ fascination with a lyric from another song, the self-empowered “Sorry,” which has the infamous “Becky with the good hair” line. Sykes exclaims: “I’m Wanda with the good weave!”

DeGeneres isn’t the only comedian riffing on Bey’s statement piece. Stephen Colbert recently devoted a Late Show segment to analyzing Lemonade (jokingly) from the perspective of a white man:

“Now, if you are white, there may be some stuff in Lemonade that you are not familiar with,” he said. “For example, Beyoncé refers to the woman Jay Z slept with as ‘Becky with the good hair.’ Now, you might think Becky is the actual name of the woman, but it turns out that is just a slang term for a kind of valley-girl type.”
