Watch Dan Auerbach, Chrissie Hynde Jam in Vibrant New Pretenders Video
The charming new video for the Pretenders‘ “Holy Commotion” show singer/guitarist Chrissie Hynde and the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach rocking out in his Nashville studio Easy Eye. Director/animator Luca Monterosso Wittmann gave the video an abstract, playful tone with clips of Nashville interspersed with doodles and scribbles of song lyrics across the frames.
The video imitates a real-life listening party of sorts for the Pretenders’ new album, Alone. Set to arrive October 21st via BMG, the new LP is the group’s first album in eight years. Hynde initially intended the record to be a follow-up to her 2014 solo LP, Stockholm. But as more songs were written, it was clear to Hynde that the project was the genesis of a Pretenders record.
Along with Auerbach, Alone will feature several Nashville studio vets including Dave Roe, Kenny Vaughan, Richard Swift, Leon Michels and Rus Pahl. Legendary rockabilly guitarist Duane Eddy also appears on album cut “Never Be Together.”
Following the album’s release, the Pretenders will embark on an expansive North American tour with Stevie Nicks October 25th at the Talking Stick Arena in Phoenix.
