Watch Courtney Love’s Haunting, Sinister PJ Harvey Cover
Courtney Love delivered a stark, piano-driven cover of PJ Harvey‘s “To Bring You My Love” during a concert with composer/playwright Todd Almond at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco Monday, Spin reports.
The emotional, intimate performance — part of an installment of Groundbreakers with Kevin Sessums — was captured via a fan-shot video, and finds Love belting Harvey’s bleeding-heart blues ballad over Almond’s lumbering piano. While the Hole frontwoman kept her vocals grave, sinister and low during the verse, she leapt into each chorus with a room-shaking, hair-raising howl.
“To Bring You My Love” appeared on Harvey’s 1995 album of the same name. The musician is currently prepping her latest LP, The Hope Six Demolition Project, which arrives April 15th and was inspired by trips Harvey and director Seamus Murphy made to Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington D.C.
As for Love, the musician has been on a covers kick lately, performing Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs” at a recent tribute event, and Radiohead’s “Creep” during a private concert in Los Angeles for the movie Freehold.
