Watch Chris Martin Sing David Bowie in ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Coldplay singer also impersonates Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger during road trip with James Corden on ‘Late Late Show’

Before Coldplay perform in front of hundreds of millions viewers Sunday at Super Bowl 50, Chris Martin had an audience of one Tuesday night, as the singer joined James Corden for The Late Late Show‘s “Carpool Karaoke.”

After Corden begrudgingly picked up a hitchhiking Martin in desperate need of a lift to the Super Bowl in San Francisco, the two immediately sing Coldplay’s “Adventure of a Lifetime” and “Yellow” as well as discuss the rules of “American football.”

Along the way, Martin also shares his uncanny impressions of Bruce Springsteen and Mick Jagger. When asked which artists the singer looks up to after a pit stop for snacks, Martin says, “Bruce Springsteen, I look up to U2. Bruno Mars.” “Incredible. No one will ever come close to doing what he did at that Super Bowl halftime show. Very difficult for anyone to match that,” Corden said. “Drop me off here,” Martin responded.

Martin then produced a small keyboard out of his backpack and started playing a simplified version of David Bowie‘s “Heroes.” “Thanks, Dave,” Martin said after his and Corden’s brief “Heroes” duet.

Lagging from the long journey, Corden and Martin stop at a local lemonade stand before calling it a night at a roadside motel. The two wake up the next morning only to discover their car has been stolen. Thankfully, someone has left a tandem bicycle unattended for Corden and Martin to complete their trip to San Francisco.
