Over 18 months after Chief Keef first announced his Bang 3, that much-anticipated mixtape might finally be on the verge of release. To celebrate, Chief Keef has revealed the music video for “Ain’t Missing You,” the official first single off the oft-delayed Bang 3. The track, an interpolation of John Waite’s (and later Tina Turner’s) “Missing You,” is the rapper’s ode to his late cousin Mario “Big Glo” Hess, who was shot and killed in Chicago in April 2014.
“Ain’t Missing You,” which finds Keef reminiscing about his cousin with an Auto-Tune-like filter coating his voice, also features singer Jenn Em, who tackles the song’s sweeping chorus. The video shows Chief Keef and Em performing the track in the studio along with cutaways to the rapper driving around his native Chicago, finding evidence of the violence that has riddled the city. There’s also footage of the rapper hanging with Big Glo. In a statement from FilmOn, who produced the video, they say “Ain’t Missing You” “signals a new more mature phase in the rapper’s career as he works to raise awareness about the violence in ‘Chiraq’ he was once part of.”
Bang 3, the follow-up to September 2013’s Bang Part 2 as well as Keef’s major label debut Finally Rich, was first announced in January 2014, and Interscope penciled in the LP for a June 2014 release. However, the label dropped the rapper in October 2014 following continued legal issues and a mandatory rehab stay, postponing Bang 3‘s arrival; Keef instead released his Back From the Dead 2 mixtape, one of Rolling Stone‘s 40 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2014.

While Bang 3 was indefinitely postponed, the rapper inked a two-album deal with MondoTunes that will result in the long-delayed LP’s release, although the exact date has not yet been announced.
