Watch Charles Bradley Stroll Brooklyn in ‘Good to Be Back Home’ Video
Charles Bradley takes a stroll through his native Bed-Stuy neighborhood in Brooklyn after a long European tour in his new video for “Good to Be Back Home,” a track off the soul singer’s 2016 LP Changes. The black-and-white Aaron Swartz-directed video premiered via Pitchfork.
The video intersperses the Brooklyn-raised Bradley’s nostalgic trek around the borough with intense footage from the singer’s sweaty, high-voltage live shows. Toward the end of the video, an appreciative Bradley strolls along the barrier of a music festival, high-fiving and hugging fans that congregated to witness the 67-year-old singer.
“America has been bittersweet with me,” Bradley told Rolling Stone of “Good to Be Back Home.” “When I was working at the state hospital [Bradley worked as a cook at a hospital for the mentally ill from 1968 to 1977], the people that I worked with, some of them really got to like me and know me. And I got a chance to really know people and find the quality of people and who they are.”
