Watch Chance the Rapper Soar in Inspiring ‘Angels’ Video
Chance the Rapper has dropped his new “Angels” video, which features fellow Chicago rapper Saba. In the clip, which is directed by Austin Vesely and features animation from Hebru Brand Studios, Chance descends from the sky above his Chicago hometown as he raps, “I got my city doing front flips.”
Wearing his signature White Sox cap and dressed in a jumpsuit that features a Chicago flag patch, he soars around a sun-kissed sky, superhero-style, before he lands on top of an an El train, which he rides through the city’s Loop. Meanwhile, Saba raps inside a train car while a bevy of onlookers start a dance party.
Later, Chance and Saba are on a deserted city street at night, striking choreographed moves to the grooving tune that features the inspiring hook, “City so damn great, I feel like Alexand’/ Wear your halo like a hat, that’s like the latest fashion/ I got angels all around me, they keep me surrounded.”
Chance, who proudly reps his hometown, recently took on another role: that of baseball cap designer. On Wednesday, the White Sox announced that the rapper would be designing three new limited-edition White Sox hats. As ESPN points out, the hats will be available at the team’s home opener on Friday. According to Chance’s website, the caps will also be available via his ChanceRaps shop.
In other Chance the Rapper news, he will be featured on The Hamilton Mixtape due out later this year and he also appears on Skrillex’s remix of Hundred Waters’ “Show Me Love.” Chance has a handful of tour dates scheduled, beginning with a hometown April 8th show at the Chicago Theatre and some festival dates, which includes an August 7th appearance at San Francisco’s Outside Lands. Meanwhile, Saba will open for Jazz Cartier on his European tour, which begins in Athens, Greece, on April 15th and wraps in Hamburg, Germany, at Kleiner Donner on May 1st.
