Watch Ariana Grande Belt, Rap ‘Side to Side’ on ‘Fallon’
Ariana Grande gave a subdued, solo performance of her new single “Side to Side” featuring Nicki Minaj on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The reggae-inflected tune appears on Grande’s third album, Dangerous Woman.
In a stark contrast from the neon-pink, spin class-inspired MTV VMA performance and official music video, Grande kept it simple as the Roots accompanied her on the track. When she reached Minaj’s verse, the singer showed off her own rapping skills whole rhyming out her frequent collaborator’s part.
Grande announced her upcoming Dangerous Woman tour and played the Best Friends Challenge with the host. The pair had to choose questions from a box and guess each other’s answers. Grande had first draw and asked Fallon to guess what animal she would be, which turned out to be a seahorse. “I’m sorry I misled you,” she apologized when Fallon assumed the answer was “kitty cat” given her affinity for wearing cat ears. Later, Grande revealed that her first celebrity crush was Jim Carrey.
