Arcade Fire unleash a dramatic version of 2004’s “Rebellion (Lies)” in a preview of their upcoming DVD/Blu-Ray documentary-concert set, The Reflektor Tapes / Live at Earls Court, out January 27th via Eagle Rock Entertainment. Frontman Win Butler leads the band through the pounding art-rock showstopper, backed by a swelling arrangement of keyboards, percussion, guitars and saxophone. Multi-instrumentalist Will Butler runs across the stage, banging a floor tom, which he triumphantly slams at the song’s climax.
The performance highlights Live at Earl’s Court, a 2014 London concert featured on the package’s second disc. The first disc includes Kahlil Joseph’s 2015 documentary The Reflektor Tapes, which chronicles the making of Arcade Fire’s most recent LP, Reflektor.
The package also includes bonus features like the band’s “Here Comes the Night Time” TV special, a performance of “Afterlife” from the YouTube Awards and promo clips for “Reflektor” and “We Exist.” In addition to the 20-track concert, disc two features “Director’s Cut” versions of five tracks.
Arcade Fire are currently working on their highly anticipated fifth LP, tentatively due out this spring. In Rolling Stone‘s 2017 album preview, the band’s Tim Kingsbury said he hoped recent sessions in Paris and Montreal would inject “a little burst of energy back into the process.”
Last week, the band released “I Give You Power,” a bombastic collaboration with Mavis Staples.
