Watch Anna Kendrick, Billy Eichner Sing Adele, Madonna, Bieber on ‘Corden’
Billy Eichner and Anna Kendrick joined James Corden for a speedy pop musical on Monday night. The three performers whizzed through performances of famous songs as they acted out milestone events from one woman’s life story in a segment titled “Soundtrack to Growing Up.”
“We’ve got 14 songs, 10 sets, 1 take, and 0 pressure,” Corden declared. The lightning-round conceit was similar to the one used recently on The Late Late Show by Corden and Tom Cruise, who reenacted scenes from a stunning number of Cruise’s movies in rapid succession.
The segment started with Eichner screaming his way through Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It” as a woman gave birth. Fun.’s “We Are Young” was the soundtrack for high school graduation, Kendrick headed to her first job as Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5” blared behind her and she sang Justin Bieber’s “Baby” when her character discovered she’s pregnant. Corden, Eichner, and Kendrick brought the skit to a close with a three-way singalong to “Circle of Life,” from The Lion King and Alicia Keys’ “Girl on Fire.”
Eichner’s comedy Billy on the Street recently started its fifth season on TruTV. (Kendrick appeared in an episode of the show last season titled “Tinder In Real Life Lightning Round!”) Kendrick is currently starring in The Accountant, a thriller with Ben Affleck, which came out in October.
