Watch Adam Sandler’s Updated ‘Chanukah Song Part 4’ Video
Much like how Adam Sandler‘s “Thanksgiving Song” remains a holiday classic, the comedian’s “The Chanukah Song” continues to be an unofficial anthem for the Jewish Festival of Lights. Since the seasonal favorite debuted in 1994, Sandler has twice updated the track – in 1999 and 2002 – to include a new list of famous Jewish celebrities celebrating those “eight crazy nights.” After a 13-year layoff, Sandler premiered his latest version of the song, “The Chanukah Song Part 4,” at the New York Comedy Festival before recording this official video during a November 18th comedy show at San Diego’s Civic Theatre.
The 13 years since the last “Chanukah Song” have seen plenty of prominent new Menorah-lighting actors, musicians and billionaires emerge: Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Drake, Scarlett Johansson, Jake Gyllenhaal and “the two guys that founded Google.” “We may not have a cartoon with a reindeer that can talk / But we also don’t have polio thanks to Dr. Jonas Salk / Smart Jew,” Sandler sings on the new version. “Jared from Subway … Goddamnit a Jew. But guess who’s Jewish and can fix him? Lovelines‘ Dr. Drew.”
Sandler wrapped up his new rendition by singing, “So drink your Jagerbomb-ukah / And smoke your medical chronic-ukah.” Sandler’s Ridiculous 6 premieres on Netflix on December 11th, the sixth night of Chanukah.
