Veruca Salt Reunite, Plan 2 New Songs for Record Store Day
Acclaimed Nineties alt-rockers Veruca Salt have reunited their original lineup for two new studio tracks, available on April 19th for this year’s Record Store Day event. The exclusive new 10-inch – released on the band’s first label, Minty Fresh Records – features their defining anthem, “Seether,” backed by two brand new songs, “The Museum of Broken Relationships” and “It’s Holy.”

Both tracks were produced by the band, along with Brad Wood (who worked on the band’s debut LP, 1994’s American Thighs). It’s the first new music from the original lineup (frontwoman Nina Gordon, guitarist Louise Post, bassist Steve Lack and drummer Jim Shapiro) since 1997’s Eight Arms to Hold You. While the band reached their critical and commercial peak in the Nineties, they continued with an ever-shifting lineup under Post’s direction, releasing two more full-length albums and a handful of EPs.
The group join an ever-growing list of artists releasing music on Record Store Day: Fellow alt-rock legends R.E.M. will release Unplugged: The Complete 1991 And 2001 Sessions, a four-LP set featuring their two concerts (including 11 unaired tracks) from the popular MTV concert series, while the Flaming Lips have planned two releases: a 12-inch vinyl edition of their hour-long single, 2011’s “7 Skies H3,” and the silver 7-inch “Gates of Steel,” a cover of the 1980 Devo track. Other notable releases include a reissue of Jay Z and Linkin Park‘s collaborative 2004 album Collision Course and a new Bruce Springsteen EP featuring four new songs.
