Versa Draw on Hitchcock Film for ‘Neon’ – Song Premiere

There’s a dark feel to “Neon,” the debut single from Florida electronic duo Versa. Although the juxtaposition of bright synths and grungy, industrial bass doesn’t automatically call to mind Alfred Hitchcock at first listen, the twosome drew inspiration for the track from the master of suspense.

“‘Neon’ is inspired by a beautiful, manic, destructive relationship that you hate to love,” singer Sierra Kay tells Rolling Stone. “The music isn’t chaotic, though, it’s more of a catatonic-stare-out-the-window kind of vibe. We like that balance. All we could picture when writing this song was the neon green wash that filled Kim Novak’s room in Vertigo.”
“Neon” is part of an upcoming EP by the same name, collecting three songs Kay and collaborator and producer Blake Harnage have written over the past year. The full EP is due out on January 14th, and the song is available for purchase here.
