U-God Recruits Ghostface Killah and Raekwon for ‘Golden Arms’ – Song Premiere

Wu-Tang Clan‘s U-God is returning with a new LP, Keynote Speaker, on July 23rd on RZA’s Soul Temple label. His new single bears the name of his own alias, “Golden Arms,” and brings his Wu-Tang brethren Raekwon and Ghostface Killah along.

The single brings the gritty vocal feel of “Da Mystery of Chessboxin,'” on which his opening verse is a staple of the group’s influential debut album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). “The hook on ‘Golden Arms’ tells the whole story. It’s about maintaining the fort,” U-God tells Rolling Stone. “There comes a time when you need to reflect on your life, and in doing so, it gives you a firm grip on your present and your future. When I rap on ‘Golden Arms,’ I’m doing just that, maintaining the legacy of Wu-Tang through new classic music.” The track was produced by Jay Serbe and veteran Wu engineer Jose Reynoso Jr. and is layered with a fuzzy sci-fi influenced beat.

Keynote Speaker‘s 15 tracks feature the likes of Method Man, Inspectah Deck, GZA, Kool Keith, Styles P and Elzhi from Slum Village. RZA is at the helm as executive producer and laid down beats on three tracks. As Wu-Tang Clan are back in full swing with a series of festival dates lined up, U-God’s new solo effort is well timed to accelerate the celebration of the group’s two-decade anniversary – a testament to their familiar claim that “Wu-Tang is forever.”
