Trey Anastasio Jams With Furthur on ‘Casey Jones’ at Lockn’ Festival

Phish guitarist joins the band to wrap up ‘Workingman’s Dead’ and stays for six more songs

Virginia's Lockn' Festival kicked off its inaugural run on a high note this weekend when Trey Anastasio joined Furthur onstage Saturday night for the second half of the band's set. Further, led by the Grateful Dead's Bob Weir and Phil Lesh, had announced in advance their plans to play the 1970 album Workingman's Dead in its entirety for the festival, and Anastasio had performed earlier that day with his solo band. According to, Furthur had made their way up to the album's closer when the Phish guitarist surprised audiences by appearing onstage for "Casey Jones."

Anastasio went on to play with Furthur on "Bertha," "Truckin'," "The Other One," "Viola Lee Blues" and "Scarlet Begonias/Fire on the Mountain."
