ToyGuitar are ready for an apocalypse. In their new song “Words Between Us,” the punk-rockers tear in with smoking hot, jangly chords, off-kilter vocals and a whole lot of love. “Nothing’s gonna happen to us,” they cry out joyously.

Leave it up to a kid to lend the band an invincible perspective. “[My son] was singing to me . . . kind of making up lyrics as he went along,” Toy Guitar’s Jack Dalrymple tells Rolling Stone. “He sang ‘Nothing’s gonna happen to us’ and kept coming back to it. He sang about things that he believes could never hurt us, like a ‘ginormous earthquake,’ asteroids, etc.”

Dalrymple was struck by his son’s warmth and positivity. “I took from it that he felt safe and loved – ‘sparkly purple hearts and all kinds of stuff’ were the words he used to describe the word ‘love’ at school – there in being my point of reference for the song.”

“Words Between Us” will be on ToyGuitar’s upcoming debut EP, toyGuitar, which is due digitally and on CD September 3rd, and on vinyl October 15th through Adeline Records. Preorders are available here.
