Tinashe Debuts ‘Flame’ Live Amid Smoke and Candles on ‘Fallon’
Tinashe debuted her new single “Flame” live Thursday night on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. The pop number is the latest track to preview her upcoming album Joyride.
Clad in mostly red, Tinashe performed in front of her band and singers bathed in red light. As smoke shot up behind her, the light shifted to approximate the singer being surrounded in literal flames. The singer-dancer didn’t do her usual complex choreography, opting to focus on belting the love song and jumping around to the chorus.
No release date has been set for the long-awaited Joyride. Last fall, Tinashe released the companion project Nightride, which featured previously released singles “Party Favors” and “Ride of Your Life.” She followed Nightride with a guest appearance on a remix of Britney Spears’ “Slumber Party.”
“I see them as two things that are equally the same,” she told Rolling Stone of the differences between Nightride and the forthcoming Joyride. “They are equally me. I don’t like to be limited to one particular thing so I want to represent that duality and that sense of boundlessness in my art.”
